Can you work several flexi-jobs at the same time in 2026?

You have got the taste for it. A flexi-job in a café, and why not a shift in a shop or with a catering company too? Then the question arises: are you actually allowed to combine several flexi-jobs at once? Good news: you can. But a few rules and practical limits apply. Here is the full picture.

Yes, you can work a flexi-job for several employers

The law allows you to work as a flexi-jobber for several employers at the same time. You are not tied to a single business. If you like to work a few evenings in hospitality and, on the side, occasionally in retail, that is perfectly possible.

Each employer draws up its own flexi-job agreement with you and submits a separate Dimona declaration of type FLX for the shifts you work there. For you, little changes administratively: each employer arranges that separately.

The basic condition still applies

Even if you work several flexi-jobs, the familiar basic rule applies. To be allowed to work a flexi-job, you must have worked at least four fifths for another employer during the reference quarter, three quarters earlier. That main employment is the foundation on which the entire flexi system rests.

In other words: your flexi-jobs always come on top of a sufficiently large main job as an employee. If you meet that four-fifths condition, you can have as many flexi employers as you like.

Combining a flexi-job with your permanent job

Many people do a flexi-job precisely alongside their regular job. That is allowed too, on one important condition: your flexi-job must be with a different employer than the one you have your main contract with. Working a flexi-job with the same employer is not possible.

Since 1 July 2026, however, there has been a relaxation. A full-time worker may now work a flexi-job with a related company, for example a sister company or another branch within the same group. If you work for a chain, that can be interesting. Want to know exactly whether you meet all the conditions? Our frequently asked questions will point you in the right direction.

What you really need to watch: your hours and your rest

The biggest limit is not the number of employers, but the time and energy you have. The legal working time and rest periods apply across all your work combined.

  • You must have at least eleven hours of rest between two working days.
  • Your schedules cannot overlap. You simply cannot be in two places at once.
  • The maximum daily and weekly working time applies to your main job and your flexi-jobs combined.

So it is above all a matter of good planning. Line up your shifts and guard your own limits so that you do not become overtired. Combining several jobs is nice for your wallet, but your wellbeing comes first.

One ceiling or several?

Many people make a mistake here. The annual ceiling that you can earn tax-free applies to all your flexi income combined, not per employer. If you earn at three different businesses, you add those amounts together to see whether you stay under the ceiling.

If you stay under the ceiling, your entire flexi-wage is exempt from tax. If you go over, only the part above the limit is taxed. So keep an eye on that if you are active with several employers. The advantages of several flexi-jobs

Why would you work more than one flexi-job? There are good reasons.

  • More choice of shifts. With several employers you more easily find work that fits your schedule.
  • Variety. One week a hospitality shift, the next something in retail or at an event.
  • Less dependence. If there is nothing to do at one employer for a while, you still have other options.

Since 1 July 2026, flexi-jobs are moreover possible in almost every sector, which greatly widens your choice. You can read more about that in our blog on flexi-jobs in all sectors.

How to go about it smartly

Conclusion

In 2026 you can certainly work several flexi-jobs at the same time, and even combine them with a permanent job, as long as those flexi-jobs are with different employers than your main job. Remember the four-fifths condition, keep an eye on your schedules and rest periods, and bear in mind that the ceiling applies to all your flexi income combined. Plan it smartly and stacking shifts is a fine way to earn more.
