Student@work & hours limit+
In 2025 you may work up to 650 hours per year as a student worker under favourable conditions. Check your remaining hours at Student@work.be and download your certificate for your employer.
Net vs gross+
As a student worker you only pay a small solidarity contribution (2.71%), as long as you stay under 600 to 650 hours. As a result your net pay is close to your gross pay. Some sectors (hospitality, retail, logistics) pay more than the minimum.
How many hours may you work?+
Do you work more than 650 hours? Then you pay regular social contributions. After that you may still work 80 hours per month, but without the favourable RSZ rates.
Your rights as a student worker+
You are entitled to a student contract, insurance and correct payment. Always ask for your student agreement and check your payslip.
Student job & taxes+
Do you earn too much in a year? Then this can have consequences for your taxes and your parents' child benefit. Keep an eye on the annual limit to stay a dependant for tax purposes.
